My first street commision for portrait art was from this kind woman. I was just starting to get a little comfortable with drawing and painting people. I just drew a biggie smalls and sold it. I was drawing Eddie Murphy when the lady pictured here asked if I take requests. Of course for the right price it was a picture of her and her brother.
I was nervous but I tried and this was the result. I had way too much stuff with me but I was able to get the colors the way I wanted them.

I painted this in Portland,OR I was binge watching Soul Train on youtube I flew to New York. First time visit I posted up in the subway just to test the waters and once again I don't remember names and this was like six years ago. But I remember her face and she got off the subway and walked up and said i love it I want to support it how much. I won't go into price but I'll say it gave me the confidence that I needed to keep doing it.

This sale was an early one too I didn't take a picture of the customer. I did learn from that and have gotten so much better at taking pictures. I am a personal chef and at the time I was promoting my personal chef business but had thia and a few other pieces just to display and this one sold. I also got two bookings that nice for cooking what a great time that night.
